  • Welcome!

Come on in!  This is the blog page for B&M Photography. My name is Bill and that's my wife Mendy and I pictured, in action, to the left.

B&M Photography is located in New Orleans, Louisiana and have photographed the weddings of several local couples as well as couples that have visited from other parts of the country and have decided to have their wedding in the "Big Easy."

B&M Photography is proud to be a member of the Professional Photographers of America.

New Orleans is considered an international tourist destination and is also a great place to 'tie-the-knot.'

If you're looking for photographers that are as excited about your wedding (and your wedding images) as you are - well, you've come to the right place!

With our couples, we find that the Brides relate well to Mendy as she understands things from the female perspective and, at the same time, l seem to know where the grooms are coming from.

Please feel free to contact Mendy and I at any time to discuss your unique wedding, portrait or event photography needs.

We would love to meet and speak with you!

    Thanks for visiting......

It’s the Season….

Every year I feel it. The itchy eyes, tight throat, sneezing – yep, allergies! The main source seems to be the Louisiana state flower – Magnolias.

The problem is, we have a rather large Magnolia tree right in our front yard. So, every attempt to cut the lawn becomes a real experience!

I decided that, even though they bother me, I wanted to cut down a few of the flowers and photograph them.

Here are the results:

Gotta Love Technology!

If you happen to be a recent (or future) client of our and we’ve sent you a notification that your images are ready to be proofed, you may be interested to learn that you can view those photos right on your phone!  The proofing service that we use has just introduced this service and I think it is a great idea! The more we can do while ‘on-the’go’, the better I say.  I just wanted to let everyone know that we fully support all the latest technology around here and we just love it. Call us “geeks” if you want!  :-)  That’s fine by us!

The Night of the Big Moon!

The local and National New was reporting this past week that there was going to be a ‘big Moon’ This Saturday (Today). I knew I wanted to get a photo of it, but I wasn’t sure where I would go to get it. As it turns out, I just had to go across the street to the vacant lot. The moon is ‘bigger’ because it is closer to the earth then it usually is. Anyway, I would have liked to get a shot earlier, just as it was coming up. but it was too cloudy. I had to wait for a bit until it broke through the clouds to get the shot that you see here. This probably won’t happen again in my lifetime, so I’m glad I was able to snap an image of it!

Pam and Sam ~ Married!

According to Pam’s mom, Pam and Sam met in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina at a Convention that they both attended. From there, they conducted a ‘long distance’ relationship as Pam lived in New York and Sam lived in Oklahoma. It seemed only natural that they should come back to the place where they met to hold their wedding. All the guests were also from out of town. If you’re going to try to get people to travel for your wedding, there probably isn’t a more popular place then New Orleans!  :-)

Pam and Sam told us that they wanted to do a kind of ‘first look’, I always like it when the couples decide to do this as it gives us some alone time with both of them while the light is still as good as it can be. We started in the court yard of the hotel.

Sam was excited to see Pam in her wedding dress, his reaction gave them both a laugh. The first look also eases any tension that there may be before the ceremony begins.

I love this look of pride that Sam has on his face – classic!

We took our couple and ventured out onto Bourbon Street for some quick shots before the ceremony was scheduled to begin. The weather had been rainy most of the day so we wanted to be careful with Pam’s dress. To do that, we certainly needed to stay off the actual street as it can be kind of dirty (even on a good day!)

Still, we wanted some classic shots with the famous street in the background.

Pam is not a tall person, still she has a look that can only be described as fierce!  :-)

…. and dramatic, that’s for sure!

I also wanted to spend a little time with Sam. So often the guys get overlooked by all the excitement surrounding the girls.

Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony to begin. The fans are always a good detail as New Orleans weather is rarely cool.

While watching the ceremony, I turned and saw this image in one of the doors behind me. I like the balance with the minister on one side and Pam and Sam on the other.

The courtyard on the Inn on Bourbon is a great place to hold a ceremony.

There’s just something very special about the way a couple looks at each other while the ceremony is happening.

Sam is much taller than Pam, he had to lean down to give her the first kiss.

Finally….. husband and wife!

The wedding day coverage is usually so much about the couple that the wedding party gets a bit ignored. I wanted to showcase the whole group, especially as two of Pam’s bride’s maids were her sisters!  :-)

The happy couple, now joined in marriage!

I enjoy taking photos of the bouquet and I like the New Orleans feel to this shot.

The couple’s first dance in the ballroom set up for the reception. There was always a lot of smiling and laughter with Pam and Sam.

This shot has a special look so I wanted to include it in our blog coverage.

The band on hand for the reception was really very good. I wanted to capture a few shots of them so Pam and Sam could remember and be taken back to that special day when they view these photos together in the future. I always image that while photographing a couple’s wedding…. I know I’m kind of strange, but I do.  :-)

The band talked the crowd into a traditional New Orleans second line – it didn’t take too much convincing to tell the truth.

We made our way to the cake table for the cake pulls and couple’s cutting of the cake.

I told Pam and Sam that if there was time, I wanted to take them up to the balcony of the hotel for a truly New Orleans styled photograph. As they were from out of town, I hoped they would like an image of them with Bourbon street at night in the background. I really like it and hope they do as well!

When the crowd below noticed our couple on the balcony, they all started calling out congratulations (as well as some ‘throw-me-somethings’)  if we had beads, we could have really created a scene out on the street!

Thank you Pam and Sam, Mendy and I really enjoyed spending time with you and your families. We hope you had a great time in the city and will return often to celebrate your marriage and your wedding day.

Hope and Rudy ~ Married!

Hope and Rudy were wed at Taravella Manor on a cool evening in March. Past clients Brad and Melissa (who were married in March of 2009) were there with their new baby and it was really nice to see them again. We began our coverage by meeting Hope at the Ritz Carlton on Canal Street. We started with the dress and other details as well as the highlights of the bride as she got her dress tied up and other details of the preparation. From there we went across the river to the West Bank and got everything ready to go at the Taravella Manor. Meeting Rudy, I could tell right away that he was going to be a lot of fun to work with!  :-)

The ceremony began just as the sun was setting. Before you knew it, Hope and Rudy were exchanging rings and leaning in to give on another the first kiss as husband and wife! From that moment on, the party got started and didn’t end until the traditional second line!

Please enjoy this slideshow that we’ve put together.

Thank you Hope and Rudy for including Mendy and I in your special wedding day!
